These balconies were created for a local home in the NW hills.
The lower structure is steel with a copper plate patina and topped
with brass.
We were going for an old hotel feel.
This was a modern home with many old world style accents.

These rails are made from cast iron pieces. The
traditional wrought
iron black finish and the decorative
quality of each rail create a comfortable
timeless Spanish feel.

Shanghai Stairs
These stairs are the main entrance to an underground club, Shanghai Tunnel, in Portland, Oregon. They are constructed
from diamond plate steel with the rises made from a perferated material which allows the ambiant red light to seep through and illuminate each step. The rail mimics the stair materials, using enlarged holes and diamond shape cutouts.
The emphasis on negative space allows the backlit stairs to assume an aura of their own and maintains a feeling of openness. The design is ideal for the space and was designed specifically for the Shanghai Tunnel. It is an excellent
example of a site specific piece.
